Open a Window

When you have been indoors a while, the air goes stale and so do you. It is easy to sit in the same room for hours without noticing that the whole place has gone a bit flat and stuffy and heavy, and easier still to assume the heaviness is you rather than the room.

Often it is the room. So here is today's, and it could not be simpler. Open a window. Properly, not a grudging crack at the top. Let the outside come in for a few minutes.

It is genuinely remarkable what it does. The noise from outside, the change in temperature, the sheer freshness of it after hours of the same air going round. It resets a room, and it resets you along with it, and the two are harder to separate than you would think.

If you can, sit near it for a minute and just breathe. You do not have to go anywhere or do anything or make a project of it. This is not exercise and it is not fresh air in the way people mean when they are telling you off. Let the day in, and see how much better the room feels for it.
