Three years running: Hearts of Gold 2026

On Wednesday 23 September I was back at the Eyres Monsell Club on Little John Road for the Eyres Monsell Volunteer Awards, Hearts of Gold. For the third year running, I received an award, a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of my contribution to the community.

The night was hosted and presented by our ward councillors, Kaz Pickering and Elaine Pantling, who put so much into making it special for everyone there. The High Pressure Band were amazing and kept the room going all evening.

What I enjoyed most was seeing so many people from my own community recognised for the work they do. Most of it happens quietly, away from any stage, and it was lovely to see it celebrated.

My own work is supporting people who live on artificial nutrition and tube feeding, and pushing for a better admissions pathway so patients like us get safe care when we arrive at hospital. Receiving this award for a third year means a great deal to me.

I want to thank everyone who has believed in me and in what I am trying to change for people on artificial nutrition. Your support keeps me going. And to all my fellow Tubies: this one is for you too.
